Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 29, 2026 · Last Updated: March 29, 2026

The short version: Your department owns all of its data. We don't sell it, share it, or use it for anything other than running UASOPS. Each department's data is isolated — no one else can see it. You can delete everything at any time.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Design-Build-Live, LLC ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects information through the UASOPS application ("the Service"). We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users, their departments, and the operational data they entrust to us.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Department information: Department name, contact information, and configuration preferences
  • Team roster data: Names, roles, FAA certification numbers, and contact information for team members
  • Drone roster data: Aircraft identifiers, serial numbers, and equipment details
  • Operational data: GPS pin locations, coordinates, notes, timestamps, photos, and operation names
  • Pilot profile data: Pilot credentials, flight experience, and certifications
  • Incident and scene data: Any notes, observations, or documentation entered during field operations

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: Browser type, operating system, and screen size (used to optimize the interface)
  • Location data: GPS coordinates when you drop pins or use location-based features (only when you actively use these features)
  • Usage data: Feature usage patterns to improve the Service

We do not collect personal data beyond what is necessary to operate the Service. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service
  • Set up and configure your department's instance
  • Enable real-time pin sharing and team coordination
  • Generate mission reports and operational records
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting
  • Improve the Service based on usage patterns

We do not use your operational data, incident information, or scene documentation for any purpose other than providing the Service to your department.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties. Period.

We may share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: With third-party services necessary to operate the Service (Firebase/Google Cloud for data storage, What3Words for location addressing, MapNova for livestream integration). These providers process data solely on our behalf and are subject to their own privacy and security policies.
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority
  • Safety: When we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm or protect safety

5. Data Storage and Security

  • Data is stored in Firebase Realtime Database, hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States
  • All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Each department's data is isolated by tenant ID — departments cannot access each other's data
  • Access to the Service is controlled through PIN-based authentication with three access levels
  • We do not store passwords — PINs are stored within your department's isolated Firebase data

While UASOPS employs encryption in transit and tenant-level data isolation, the Service has not undergone formal CJIS compliance auditing. Departments handling Criminal Justice Information should evaluate whether UASOPS meets their specific compliance requirements. CJIS compliance is on our development roadmap.

6. Operational and Incident Data

We understand that departments may use UASOPS to document sensitive incidents, scenes, and operations. All operational data — including pin locations, notes, photos, and incident details — is treated with the same privacy protections as all other department data:

  • Accessible only to your department's authorized users
  • Isolated from all other departments
  • Not viewed, analyzed, or used by us for any purpose other than providing the Service
  • Deletable at any time by the department administrator

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your department maintains an active subscription. Upon termination of service:

  • You will have a reasonable period to export your data
  • After the export period, all department data will be permanently deleted from our systems
  • Backups containing your data will be purged within 90 days of deletion

Data deletion on request: Department administrators may request complete deletion of all department data at any time by contacting us. All data will be permanently removed within 30 days of the request. We are developing an in-app deletion feature to allow administrators to perform this action directly.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data at any time through the Service
  • Export your operational data (pin data, reports)
  • Correct inaccurate information through the Service interface
  • Delete your data by contacting us or through the Service
  • Request a copy of all data we hold about your department

To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in Section 12.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Location Data

UASOPS uses GPS location data to provide its core functionality — dropping pins and sharing locations on a shared map. Location data is:

  • Only collected when you actively use location features
  • Stored as part of your operational data within your department's isolated environment
  • Not shared with third parties except as necessary for map tile rendering
  • Not used for tracking individuals outside of active operations

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify active subscribers of material changes via email or through the Service. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when changes were last made.
